  2. Hello I have a question, I have a job offer but I don’t have the TUM diploma yet. The only thing that is missing is my master thesis and getting the grade could take a while. I think someone mentioned that we can get a paper saying we basically just have the thesis left to validate our diploma but I am not finding the message. Does anyone know anything about this?

    1. I think you can write your prof and ask if he can give you a certificate you passed your thesis. But there is nothing that confirms you your degree when you haven't finished yet.
    2. Please be aware that graduation documents and preliminary certificates can only be issued when all grades in TUMonline (including the thesis) are validated. Certificates for students of the Faculty for Informatics  are issued by the Graduation Office and Academic Records Campus Garching exclusively, after approval by the Examination Board. Please contact the Secretary of the Examination Board of your study program as soon as all your grades are validated.     3. You can get a pass confirmation which states that you have at least a 4.0 earlier to my knowledge

  3. Hi, do we lose our student status just after submitting our thesis or will we stay as students until the end of the current semester? E.g if I submit my thesis at 15 November 2023 , will I be still student until 31st March 2024?

    1. You will stay enrolled until the end of the semester unless you wish not to
    2. Does that mean we still have access to our emails etc until then?
    3. Yes, if you set up a redirection in TUMonline, you can even keep the email address forever. However, they will soon deactivate your inbox after you're not enrolled anymore, which also means you can't send emails from this address anymore

  4. Hi 👋🏻 does anyone know if there is anything to do for graduation after thesis is graded?

    1. You can ask your study program head to send your documents to the graduate center sooner to speed up the process. Then you need to manually make an appointment at the Graduate Office to receive the diploma.
    2. Or as an alternative go to the office without an appointment, take a blank form for sending you the thesis, fill it and drop into the mailbox at the building entrance. In my experience that was faster.

  5. Question for those who already passed their thesis: do you guys had to attend a seminar at a chair during your thesis, where all students share progress of their thesises? Just want to find out if it is a common practice at TUM

    1. No, but I did a couple presentations closer to the end to gather feedback and prepare better for the final presentation in terms of questions and my style of presenting, which was useful

    1. Turnitin
    2. Do we have a university account provided for turnitin? On the website while creating account, they ask for class ID, class enrollment key, etc details. :
      1. They are able to provide however it strongly depends on the course, university and etc. If you do not have an opportunity to have turnitin. Grammarly Premium might help however no idea about its trustworthy percentage

    1. At the end of the Semester, except you make a request to get exmatriculated earlier

    1. Yes, you can fail and redo it once

    1. Pay the semester fee and get a refund after u finish ur thesis

  11. Also as a side topic: TUM doesn't have a central publicly accessible thesis database, so

    1. it will be difficult for others to find your thesis, so consider uploading it somewhere separately too
    2. the plagiarism checks are not as diligent
    3. if you want to cite some other thesis, you have to find it on a separate website too

    1. Opening a new account should give you some free credits, if you want to go that route.
    2. Check GDG Cloud Munich, they are starting some certification preparation group, I think if you register for it you get some free credits as well, regardless of participation

    1. I have did it recently, I have sent an email to the same person for the thesis registration.

    1. Yes it is

  15. Do anyone know what's the maximum semester one can take for completing Master. Is it 6 or 7 Semester?

    1. 6, they give you a 7th semester only if you need to complete the thesis
