1. Hey guys, is there some place in Munich where we can print our master thesis?
    1. Printy
      1. thanks a lot for this advice. It was very quick. they printed out 3 copies in 1 hour
      2. Sorry, I cannot recommend them. They didn't follow my instruction or clarify what I wanted with me. They just printed what they could offer the best and tried to ask me to pay 11€ more than what I expected from their website.
      3. Not custom, but something like paper weight. I forgot to tell them I want the cheaper one. And for the charts and plotting inside, I changed most of them to gray, and they still count them as colour pages. And they did not follow what binding I want.
      4. If someone wants the best quality without problem in printing and don't care about price, I could recommend them. They are quick.
    2. The Fachschaft offers printing your thesis according to TUM guidelines and at cheap prices, since it's all voluntary labour.😉 fsmpi.de/printing-unit [email protected]
    3. FM Kopierbar Fotokopie GmbH - Digitaldruck - +49 89 280336 https://maps.app.goo.gl/Xr9fuLRXRyGpi27F8 My friend recommended this
    4. Quick Druck +49 89 5236959 https://maps.app.goo.gl/EXeWxzYuEP1uQoGCA
    5. For everyones info, the Quick Druck is rughly 1.5 times cheaper than printy. I asked for a price estimate beforehand and it was 15 Eur vs 27 Eur, including softcoverbinding and spine and stuff. FM-Kopierbar Digitaldruck is roughly the same, 17 Eur Also all of the shops asked me for a file for the spines (based on regulations: "Author and shortened title, Imprinted or permanently fixed (f.e. glue on the text with wide tape).") Can anyone send theirs that I can edit?
    6. Fachschaft MPIC also prints at a pretty good price -> https://mpic.fs.tum.de/services/abschlussarbeiten/
  2. Is it okay to print the thesis single-sided?
    1. Why would you? I didn't find any specifics against it when I was printing mine, but this seems like a substantial mistake.
    2. Well sometimes if ur thesis is not that long, it makes sense to print single sided because else it would be hard to bind the thesis. It's not a mistake and wont get u any deductions afaik but if u can i would prind double sided as it looks way more sophisticated
    3. Depends on your supervisor and where you will print it and the number of pages you have. But it most cases one-sided
    4. Always one sided
    5. I didn't see anything like that in the guidelines
    6. Printed mine double-sided, saved 50 sheets of paper, didn’t have any problems
  3. Does anyone know what the requirement of informatics thesis cover is (hardcover or softcover)?
    1. I think as long as the required information is printed on the cover, it does not matter and both is okay.
    2. Cardstock https://www.cit.tum.de/en/cit/studies/students/thesis-completing-your-studies/informatics/
  4. Doctoral theses don't have to be printed anymore, this has recently changed. Maybe they will change it for Master's and Bachelor's theses soon, too! Regarding multiple copies: You have to hand in one copy for the examination board. The copy for your chair is officially required, but the chairs don't have to confirm the reception or something alike, so talk to your supervisor whether they actually want a copy. I prefer marking on paper, but if a student were asking me if they could not hand in a copy because of money/environment/etc., this would be fine for me.
  5. Where can i print and bind my thesis tomorrow morning as the submission is until 1??
    1. Printy is good. Might not be ready by then though
    2. If you email them early enough they sometimes print it within an hour
  6. 😭🥲 Hi guys, regarding the Thesis Printing.. How short should the shortened title be? How many number of words approximately? How is the length compared to the original title? Thank you very much. 🙏
    1. I guess if your title fits the title would also be ok Otherwise shorten it
